The Siren by Tiffany Reisz

Read: Aug. 22-27 2012
★★★★

Most of the times I abstain myself from making reviews, simply because I almost never find the right words to describe how I feel about the books I read. But in this case I just have to write something.

It took me a bit longer than usual to finish this book, because in all honesty, I felt like it wasn't going anywhere. At times I even thought it was boring. The writing is good in my opinion and everything's right in that department, but somehow I felt like it was taking too long for it to get somewhere (or at least the somewhere I hoped it would get to).

So, I only really got into the story after the middle, because I wasn't giving up on it.

I was right not to.

I didn't even know what to expect concerning the end of the book though. I don't want this review to be "spoilery", so I won't mention anything specific. I'll just say that the end, all in all, was what one should expect from the beginning as soon as we find the story of all the characters. And though this is true, I won't say I was completely happy with how each of the main characters ended up. It was something like a 50/50 split for me.

In the end I did shed some tears, which is to be expected when I really get into a story and it only confirms that I did enjoy and connected with it, although it took me sometime to do so.
